BEEYONDERS second newsletter

Published On 16 October 2023

In the last six months, project BEEYONDERS continued its path towards innovation in the construction sector. Find out more about the latest news in this second newsletter.

Dear reader,

Welcome to the second edition of the BEEYONDERS newsletter. We’re happy to take this opportunity to bring you up to date on the milestones that have been achieved so far.

Our new digital twin architecture offers a malleable yet robust strategy, customized to each use case and its corresponding technology. Notably, we’ve charted the technical pathways bridging autonomous vehicles, collaborative robotics, and the digital twin.

Furthermore, we have defined the technical interfaces between autonomous vehicles, collaborative robotics, and the digital twin. Also, we developed a simulation pipeline to test algorithms in autonomous vehicles, with a focus on reinforcement learning for the wheel loader’s loading and unloading tasks.  Additionally, a set of sensors has been selected to ensure reliable perception systems, even in low visibility conditions.

The project’s technical requirements have been set, serving as a baseline for our use case demonstrations and laying out the criteria for our economic, technical, social, and environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These indicators will play a crucial role in assessing the benefits and advancements of the technologies we’re innovating within BEEYONDERS.

On the global front, our project coordinators, Antonio Alonso Cepeda and José Carlos Jimenez, ventured to Japan. Their mission was to foster and solidify lasting professional ties with an array of Japanese stakeholders, including businesses, academic institutions, and tech hubs. We invite you to read this newsletter edition and hope you find it interesting.
